Description

Choosing Verbs and Adverbs Year 6 gives teachers a complete sequence for helping students sharpen meaning through deliberate word choice. Students compare general and precise verbs, select dialogue verbs that convey tone, identify adverb and adverbial information, test how placement changes emphasis, remove redundant combinations and use a thesaurus with attention to context, register, connotation and intensity.

The sequence supports a full teaching week. Begin with the editable presentation and colour reference displays, build understanding through the Verb-Adverb Match-Up Game and Dialogue Verb Tone Sort, then move into six structured worksheet sets. Finish with the Precision in Action assessment, a supported extended-writing task and a five-level marking rubric. Matching answers are provided for every meaningful worksheet and assessment page.
