Equal Sharing and Grouping Foundation Unit

Help Foundation students develop an early, concrete understanding of division through equal sharing and equal grouping. This complete teaching unit uses small collections, clear visual models and practical tasks so students can deal items fairly, make groups of a stated size, count or subitise to check each group and recognise leftovers.

The sequence moves from equal and unequal groups to fair sharing, grouping by twos and threes, comparing the two structures and solving leftover situations. Teachers can combine the editable presentation with the Woodland Picnic Sharing activity, Fair Share Task Cards, Spin, Share, Check! game and differentiated printable practice. A 10-question quiz, two-page assessment and rubric support review and evidence collection.

Colour pages are supplied for displays, games and hands-on materials. Worksheets and assessment pages are black and white for economical printing. Fixed-response worksheet and assessment pages are followed immediately by matching answer pages with a red ANSWERS label and red answers in the student response spaces.
