Foundation Letter Formation Unit

Help Foundation students build controlled, readable handwriting with a complete letter formation sequence for explicit teaching, guided practice, hands-on learning and independent review. The editable 19-slide presentation introduces ready posture, a gentle pencil grip, useful movement words, starting points, direction, uppercase and lowercase letter families, sky–grass–ground placement and a trace–copy–cover–write–check practice routine.
The 47-page Unit Plan PDF contains three classroom displays, thirteen colour activity/game pages, twenty black-and-white student worksheet pages, six matching red-answer pages, three assessment pages and a five-level rubric. Students sort letter families, build letters with dough or loose parts, create crowns, play coin-toss and spinner games, practise foundational strokes, form grouped uppercase and lowercase letters, connect initial sounds to letters, write their names and practise familiar words.
The editable 22-slide quiz alternates ten questions with ten answer slides so teachers can check posture, grip, movement vocabulary, letter partners, line placement and self-checking. Use the resource as a one-week unit, literacy-rotation sequence, intervention pack or handwriting revision set.
