Persuasive Texts Year 4 Unit

Click here to preview this resource
Guide Year 4 students through the complete persuasive-writing process, from analysing purpose and audience to publishing a polished independent text. This unit explicitly teaches persuasive text structure, distinct arguments, relevant evidence and explanation, counterarguments and rebuttals, TEEL/PEEL paragraphing and deliberate persuasive language.
The sequence begins with a 19-slide editable lesson presentation and three colour display resources. Students apply the learning through the Audience Appeal Match-Up activity and Persuasive Device Detectives game before working through five sequenced worksheet sets. The four-page writing pack supports topic choice, audience focus, planning, drafting, revision, editing and publication. A separate four-page Weekly Outdoor Learning Persuasive Proposal and a five-level rubric provide a clear independent assessment pathway.
The full unit is designed for approximately one school week or 5-8 lessons, with additional time for the assessment and final publication. Student worksheet, practice, assessment and rubric pages are black and white for practical printing; displays, activities and games are in colour.
