Description
Use Room on the Broom as a springboard for a rich week of oral language, reading response and emergent writing. This Foundation–Year 1 English unit helps children identify characters and setting, explain a problem and solution, sequence key events, retell a narrative, notice clues about feelings and connect a story with their own experiences.
The unit moves from explicit whole-class teaching into active retelling, collaborative play, drawing and differentiated written response. Colour display, sequencing cards, puppets and a story-path game support visual and oral learners. Print-friendly worksheets provide supported, core and extension practice. The Windy-Day Rescue assessment uses a new mini-story so teachers can check whether students transfer their story-understanding skills beyond the focus text.
This is a companion teaching resource. A copy of Room on the Broom is not included; use the unit alongside a legally obtained copy of the story.
