Full Description
Help Year 2 students listen like poets, write with purpose and share their work confidently. This classroom-ready unit explicitly teaches rhythm, rhyme, repetition, syllables and imagery before introducing haiku, shape poems, tanka, acrostics, cinquains and limericks.
The learning sequence combines a 25-slide editable presentation, a 10-question editable quiz and a 45-page A4 resource book. Students compare poetic forms, practise sound patterns through two hands-on games, analyse short original poems, plan and draft structured poems, revise word choice and sound, edit their work, rehearse a performance and complete a curriculum-aligned assessment. Eleven matching answer pages support efficient feedback without assigning fixed answers to genuinely open-ended writing.
