Help Year 4 students recognise, create and explain symmetry with a coherent teaching sequence that moves from visual examples to mathematical reasoning. The editable 18-slide presentation introduces the key vocabulary and ideas, while the Symmetry at a Glance display keeps line and rotational symmetry visible during the unit.

Hands-on learning is built into the sequence. Students match mirrored halves, compare quarter-turn and half-turn rotations, describe flips and slides, and investigate how shapes tessellate. Six worksheet sequences provide structured practice and extension across line symmetry, rotational symmetry, transformation patterns, tessellation and design.
